Irascible Fuck Brigade – Slash the Fucking Seats | Song of the Week

With a name like Irascible Fuck Brigade, a song named ‘Slash the Fucking Seats’ and a description of their sound as “Don’t go genre, but it’s loud and relentless and probably some kind of rock”, you could imagine that I was pretty intrigued by these guys. ‘Slash the Fucking Seats’ is the latest single to come from this wonderfully named band, and it certainly hits a number of spots.

Oddly enough, the above description is a perfect set up of how to take this track. It’s scatty, frantic instrumental is relentless, but albeit quite catchy. It’s drums seem to glitch into place and while the bass pummels into the brain it does produce a hole in the mind for IRC to project his commentary on the absurdity of modern life. There are numerous references to living in ignorance while the world crumbles all around us, and while detailed through a manner of “Drunk Uncle at a Wedding” it does make for some good listening. How bizarre.
