ABRA – Princess |
08. Zublue – Change The Channel | Local Essex lads deliver some heavy tunes on their debut.
07. Lampshades – In Media Res | Canada’s own made me pound my dick into the ground.
06. LANY – kinda | The cutest EP around. So cute it makes me sick with happiness.

05. Mayer Hawthorne – Party of One | MH offers up a couple more heartbroken tunes steeped in funky goodness.

04. Kid Bloom – A Different State of Mind |

03. Lejon Brames – okay, listen close | Lo-fi tunes filled to the brim with summery guitars and some effortlessly catchy hooks. Plus the dude really likes The Office. Awesome.

02. Jackson Reed – The November Gales | Stunning instrumentals throughout this EP to provide the perfect soundtrack to these cold Winter months. Youthful, insightful topics inspire the lyricism to deliver something a little eccentric to help extend this EP further into standing out from the rest.

01. Sports – People Can’t Stop Chillin | Sports delivered big time this year with a superb EP and a great single in ‘Someone You’d Rather Be Dating’. They envelop the listener into their world of moody, brooding atmospheres with sombre lyricism which is layered on top of instrumentals that add a touch of flair to the sound.

It’s truly an EP that sparks a bit of buzz for Sports as surely they’re destined to achieve big things in the near future. A lot of these EPs are from bands just starting out in the industry and it’s clear to see which are going to be big names in the future. The EP is often overlooked when a big artist releases one but in my opinion they’re the most important release, especially when checking out new artists. Long live the EP.
