Cutting through the waves to say hello from Toronto comes Knifey, a surf-rock band determined to surf-rock you down to the ground. Their new single Tanlines is a heartstring-strained tune that harks back to finder memories of love but lays down a strong front of fuzzy guitars and group vocals collaborating together to display a strong sense of solidarity.

Tanlines shows off a lot of ferocity, with riffs scattered every which way possible, while drums seemingly collapse with each hit as the vocals cling desperately to keep everything somewhat structured. It’s loose stance allows some leeway for grooves to seep in amongst the chaos and transform this song into one that crashes harder than the tallest wave imaginable. It’s excellent.
