Deer Venom – ‘Not Today’ | Single Review

‘Not Today’ is the new single from Seattle’s own Deer Venom. When this entered my submission queues the band had said it’d be the “best 2 minutes” of my day and well, they’re right. Following through on your claims is a good trait to have, unlike me, who oddly enough says the same statement too.

In these two minutes comes an almost Eagles of Death Metal level of Poppy guitars that seem stacked in fuzz but full of desires to make you move. The melodies are rooted into a deep level of darkness that seems to tear through the glossy nature of the track but Deer Venom do a great job backing that up with a series of vocal harmonies that aim straight for the hips. ‘Not Today’ is great, and I will be looking forward to spending many more two minute bonding sessions with it.
