Psychedelic Porn Crumpets – ‘Cornflake’ | Single Review

You know when something comes along and you just have to feature it? ‘Cornflake’ is the new single from the superbly named Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, and yep…this is one of those times. These guys are an Australian outfit about to embark on their first ever UK tour and well, I wanna munch on some crumpets.

Responsible for blowing my mind with the storming High Visceral, Pt.1 & Pt. 2, ‘Cornflake’ is a rereleased cut from the former record and it is a proper banger. The forever churning guitar riff brings back memories of listening to the likes of QOTSA and Kyuss for the first time, and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets do a great job of taking those Desert Rock vibes and bringing it to the modern day. The drums pummel the skull while the hazy vocals glaze over the instrumental, often adding in little sections of melodic peace before charging back into the behemoth that is the guitar riff.

‘Cornflake’ is brutish, almost barbaric in nature but full of so many cool moments that it makes me fangirl hard. And I mean, just check out that video. Good lord.
