Blonde Diamond dazzle the ears with new EP | Fantasy Love

“Fantasy love is much better than reality love. Never doing it is very exciting. The most exciting attractions are between two opposites that never meet.” said Andy Warhol. It’s true, reality love is good but sometimes you gotta deal with morning breath, snoring and perhaps even a knee to the groin in the middle of the night. It’s a warzone out there.

Mr. Warhol’s quote is also the inspiration behind Fantasy Love, the new EP from Blonde Diamond. This Canadian quintet are believed to be “what the 60’s thought the future would sound like” which I think is awesome. The EP kicks off in a big way with ‘Better When You’re Close’ as it erupts with a glorious display of strong female vocals, booming drums and an instrumental that’s funky as the night is long. It’s infectiously catchy, and immediately draws you towards what’s bound to be a good listen.

‘Show Me How You Wanna Be Loved’ follows with a more heartfelt performance that illustrates passionate lyricism but it’s the instrumentation that really shines here. Waves of pummeling synthesisers burst through the airwaves alongside crashing drums and a chorus that knows howto flood the mind. It’s a glorious, anthemic tune and one I can’t deny as being a proper banger.

The like of ‘Dark Place’ mellows a tad to allow the emotion to shine through but does not forget to let out a little collision of sound too. All in all it makes Fantasy Love a dead good listen that really does bring the 60s into the modern world. Blonde Diamond certainly done a number on me with this EP, and I think I’m in fantasy love with them too.
