Welcome to another week of the Good Sounds Playlist. This week’s title comes from the single by Oxford’s own Low Island. It’s slick, smooth and definitely got the moves to make your hips move. Something we strive to achieve all the time. Variety is rather high on the agenda it appears, as we open with Eileen Barton’s “If I Knew You Were Coming…” which you can blame solely on Sex Education. Have you seen it yet? You should. It’s very funny, emotional, awkward and…definitely not something you’d want to watch with your parents.
We’ve also fallen back in love with Carly Rae Jepsen, as her music makes even the most mundane of days vibrant with some heartstrung Pop songs. “Tug Of War” has a chorus hook that we just cannot ignore. Much like the heavy thunder brought to the ears by the likes of Middle Life, Only Shadows, Scuttlers, KOYO and Marsicans. It’s also opportune time to mention the seriously synthy vibes of HEZEN’s “Bring Your Alibi”. Jeez.
As always, thank you for listening. We’re creeping up in numbers ever so slightly so it would be immense if we could reach triple figures by the end of the year. Do us a favour and share the playlist with all the ears you know, and we can all enjoy the sweet sounds of new artists every single week. Take it easy and just like the closing track of the playlist, I wish all you pretty people well.
