Good Sounds Playlist ¦ Shark Bait

Welcome to the Good Sounds Playlist! This week’s list is called SHARK BAIT, after the superb new single from Ah Trees. It’s equal parts groovy, funky and also has the added benefit of reminding us of ALLO BRUCE from Finding Nemo. So that’s good. It adds a touch of groove to the playlist which is rather heavy on the guitars, but variety is the spice of life, right? Especially when it BOPS YOU IN THE FACE.

The heavy guitars come in the form of The Sunny Devils, Guru and Alexandria Maillot, with the latter being a perfect dose of slacker-rock. J Mascis would cry a solitary tear of joy. New singles from Utrecht and Mark Lanegan bridge the genres together as they offer a more aggressive form of groove which helps rough up the textures a little. Nina Luna and Lokoy bring Pop into the fold as their new singles sink into the hips immediately, especially Nina’s track. Been jamming that all week in the run up to this, as much as the tropical storm of good vibes that Holy Nothing bring to the mix too. OH MAN.

I, the Mountain and Pale Moon also provide some rough-edged riffs that sink into the mind and Semler closes out the playlist with a song that’s full of emotion and gets just hits you right in the heartstrings. Thank you to all twelve artists who’re featured on the Good Sounds Playlist this week and thanks to ALL OF YOU who’ve helped us reach closer to the 100 Follower mark. We’re actually dead close now. It’s mad.
