RAE / Debut Single – ‘Never Meant to Start a Witch Hunt’

With a new sound and fresh rebrand complete, RAE leave the past behind with their explosive debut single ‘Never Meant To Start A Witch Hunt’.

‘Never Meant to Start a Witch Hunt’ is the debut single from RAE, a four piece from Leeds who were actually known as ørmstons up until January this year. This is a hard reset for the band, throwing away the Indiepop vibes of ørmstons and opting for a much heavier sound instead. It must’ve been a big decision to make, but it’s one that has worked oh so well.

This debut gives you everything you could want from an introduction, especially one that brings a new sound into the mix. Beefy guitar riffs fill the room, commanding attention with a thunderous energy. This brings Jess Huxham’s vocals into focus, creating an intro with a huge impact. The chorus is a powerful rush of noise, backed up by drums and harmonies that sound larger than life. It makes me feel like a badass with each listen.

For a song about starting over and leaving all of the bad vibes and people behind, you can’t really do much better than this. ‘Never Meant to Start a Witch Hunt’ is a fantastic song, and a great way to kick off a new beginning for RAE.
