The perfect time to rave about this would have been last Wednesday (you know, actual Halloween) but I couldn’t resist that groove. ‘Halloween in the USA’ is the new single from Cards and alongside Ryon’s World produces something that’s a little creepy but very enjoyable too. The real terror here is missed timing, ahh!!

‘Halloween in the USA’ could easily get away with being a little Indie number, but there’s an underlying sense of unease to it that helps it stand out from the crowd. The diddies of melody seem to creak in the night, and the slight breathe to the vocals appear to stick to your neck. It’s Halloween done well without becoming a parody – this is a song that’s genuinely entertaining and a little bit dark. Plus that little guitar solo at the end is unbelievably catchy, and with no hockey mask in sight, nice.
