Carly Rae Jepsen’s new album Dedicated ¦ showcases some new found confidence

Carly Rae Jepsen returns with her fourth album, Dedicated. We’ve been huge fans of Carly ever since the release of EMOTION. From endlessly trying to make Jepsenites a thing to rehearsing numerous phonecalls that may or may not happen, we’ve enjoyed Carly’s blend of Pop music for a little while now. Carly, if you’re reading, call me maybe? Please?

Dedicated showcases a set of songs that sticks to Carly’s foundation of singing about Love, Lust, and Relationships rather tightly but does open up a tad to introduce some bigger, bolder themes that bring progression to her discography. Sure, “Party For One” throws back to the vulnerability shown on EMOTION but tracks such as “Want You In My Room”, “I’ll Be Your Girl” and “Everything He Needs” would’ve never appeared on it. Here they shine bright with pristine production and a new found confidence we’ve never truly heard from Carly before. Rather than perpetually ponder if she’s good enough, Carly’s bringing hooks and choruses that are sexy, especially in “Everything He Needs”. The repetition alongside the breathy vocals, oh man…we’re not used to Sexy Carly, but we’re digging it. A lot.

This new album is another triumph and is one that Jepsenites should be proud of. Carly Rae Jepsen brings more material that doesn’t constantly whinge like other Pop stalwarts, but provides straight forward tunes that’re bold and ridiculously catchy. For real though, can the Jepsen community be known as Jepsenites?
