“Red Wine” is the debut single from Crawford. Written about confessing feelings of love after having a little too much wine, this song is a fantastic introduction to the LA-based artist. We’ve all confessed feelings whilst drunk. I once made the mistake of texting a former lover about how much I miss them and still thought about them but they never replied. I was heartbroken, but then again, I don’t know how I managed to get Pizza Hut’s number in the first place.
Heavily reverberated guitar chords and harmonies immediately sets the tone of “Red Wine”, filling the room with a smoky atmosphere that’s bolstered by Crawford’s unbelievable vocals. The subtle rhythms of the drums add a kick of groove and texture to the mix, as basslines contribute some funkier sounds. The soaring harmonies really help this confession of love feel true, and not like the ramblings of an individual not even aware of what they’re saying. It’s gorgeous, and definitely one of the sexiest songs of the year. Now excuse me, I need to reconnect with a lost love. Yes please, two orders of mozzarella sticks.
