Foxglove are back with their second single of the year, ‘Bright Lights’. Sometimes you need to hear something that warms the soul, and this is certainly one of those songs. Pairing elements of the 80s and 90s together, this larger-than-life tune acts as a solitary beacon of light in the darkening winter months.
Influenced by the likes of Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga, ‘Bright Lights’ is a song that celebrates the good times while moving firmly towards the future. Bright, glittering guitars lead the way, dazzling the ears with massive riffs, as well as smaller noodles of rhythm that aim for the hips. Booming drums add to this behemoth sound; bringing an impact that absolutely lets you know it’s approaching. There are hints of ‘Purple Rain’ present in those synths, altogether creating a sound that makes you want to go dance in the rain.
‘Bright Lights’ is fantastic. It’s a song that makes you relive the best moments of your life but also inspires you to make more. It is one of my favourite songs of the year. I can’t get enough of it.
