Waves of Dread’s brooding new single “Lay”

Waves of Dread are a trio from Newcastle and this is their new single “Lay”. Fresh off the release of their debut self-titled EP, “Lay” looks to kick off the new year with a flood of shadowiness, and a video that’s genuinely been described as “The tits, lads”. Honestly don’t see how you wouldn’t want to check it out now.

Filled with waves of distorted guitars, “Lay” is a track that fills the airwaves with scuzzy goodness that takes us back to the days of hearing Dinosaur Jr.’s You’re Living All Over Me for the first time. Within the distorted layers lie vocals that barely get their breath out, a harmony that echoes like a wind breezing by, and the subtlest of acoustic guitar just to add that extra depth to the track. “Lay” is a superb track to get yourself lost in, and a solid introduction to the great Waves of Dread. Seriously though, it is indeed, the tits.
